We know that’s a cliché, and very few businesses mean it. But we guarantee it. Whatever the size of the project, we will happily take it on, and give you the best service. We pride ourselves on our skills, and on our customer service. Worried about the price ? Great plastering is often expensive, but not so at Plastering Wirral. We have made a pledge to always be competitive and fair. We won’t ever take advantage. Our ethos is great plastering at great prices and we stand by that. Get a few quotes, and then speak to us. We will do our very best to match or beat them. But don’t expect us to cut corners or quality. That won’t happen. The best plastering at the best prices. Cutting corners is a false economy. Corners are usually cut during the preparation phase, as that’s where the most time is usually spent. Do a shoddy preparation and the job will be cheaper. But the quality of the finished plaster depends enormously on the standard of the preparation. Third rate prep results in third rate plaster. The result will be less durable and will need to be done again sooner. More expense. Nobody wants that. Times are hard. And they aren’t going to get much better in the near future. We know that. We are part of the community. We are all in the same boat. We will always look after our customers and give you the best service at the fairest prices. Give us a call and lets discuss your project. Tell us your budget and we will do our best to work with it. We can make recommendations as to where money can be safely saved. There are always options. Together we can make it work. New to plastering ? Check out the following list of materials, so you will understand the options when we chat. Gypsum Plaster Gypsum is the most popular plastering product in the UK. It ticks all the boxes. Its easy to work with, its tough and its durable, and it lasts for years. Your walls are most likely plastered using Gypsum. Gypsum is composed of Calcium Sulphate. Its a natural product and has excellent thermal insulation properties. It will retain heat in your property better than having bare walls. Its also fire proof, and resistant to impacts, so useful if you have children. Its also vapour free, so gives off no harmful chemicals as its drying. Overall, it’s a great material for plastering. We commonly use Flat Venetian Plaster, White Plaster of Paris Dry Mix and Plaster of Paris. Lime Plaster Most properties plastered prior to 1910 will have lime plaster on the walls. It’s the most traditional plastering material in the UK, having been used from the Roman period onward. Its extremely durable and long lasting. Every Romano-British archaeological site will throw up pieces of lime plaster, often with its painted surface intact. Lime’s great advantage is its breathability. Houses built before the twentieth century were designed to breathe. They allow moisture to move through the house and walls, preventing damp. Using a non breathable plaster in such a property can be a disaster. Lime allows that process to continue, and is very healthy for an older house. Lime has a very high pH. As such, it’s a natural fungicide. Mould and fungus cannot grow on lime plaster, again making it ideal for older properties that may be susceptible to damp issues. Its also very flexible, so is resistant to cracking. This is again good for older properties which may be more liable to cracking. Lime is also a very sustainable and eco-friendly product. There are some disadvantages though. Lime is harder to work with, and many plasterers don’t have the skills required to use lime plaster. This makes it more expensive than Gypsum. In recent years, several companies have developed modern versions of traditional lime plaster. These include the addition of plastic polymers, intended to make it easier to work with. This has caused an increase in the popularity of lime plaster. We use the following lime plasters; Breathaplasta, Hydrated Lime Type S and N, Miracle Morta-Lok and Masons Hydrated Lime Stucco (Portland Cement Plaster) We like Stucco plaster. It’s a very beautiful product. Its suitable for both the interior and the exterior of a home. Its very hard, and very durable. That hardness comes at a cost however. Its also very brittle and will nearly always crack over time. Its durability means it can last up to 100 years, and possibly longer, so it is a good long term investment. Stucco looks and feels very high quality and will enhance any property. Stucco is usually tinted, so it stays looking fresh longer than other plasters. It’s a professional product, however. It takes experience to apply it, and amateur stucco plastering never looks good. For the differences between plaster and stucco, check out this excellent article Clay Plaster Another beautiful product, clay gives a wonderful texture and feel to any wall. Its extremely tough and very durable. It will last for years. Its an ecologically friendly product too. If you want a natural and organic looking product, clay is the best choice. Its vapour free, so no chemicals to worry about. Like Stucco, its best applied by a professional. High-Tech Plastering Products The plastering industry never stands still. In recent years a myriad of new products have come to market, combining the best of traditional products with the latest technological advances. The intention is to create easily applied products, with none of the disadvantages. This is done by using polymers and acrylics as a part of the formulation. Plastering Wirral have extensive experience in using these products and are happy to advise on their suitability for your particular product. Plaster Repair Work We are happy to take on any job, no matter how big or small. Most companies aren’t interested in small scale repair work, but we are. Guaranteed.
